Bill Daughtridge recently received the Boy Scouts of America "God and Service Award" at an awards presentation at the First Presbyterian Church in Rocky Mount.

The award is presented by the church to members who have served young people through a national youth agency for at least five years.

"I've been in Scouting all my life, earning my Eagle Scout, going on to serve as a leader for my own son, and I continue to serve on local and national council boards," Daughtridge said.

Daughtridge is a member of the National Board of the Boy Scouts of America and will travel to the National Convention in San Diego in May.

The church is dedicated to fostering Scouting and boasts more than 140,000 youth members in more than 3,800 Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, Varsity Scout teams and Venturing crews across the country.
