Representative Bill Daughtridge Announces "Secure Your Future" Program for State Treasurer's Office
Voluntary Program Designed to Instill Confidence in Private Pension Funds
Rocky Mount, NC - Representative Bill Daughtridge, Republican candidate for State Treasurer announced today that he would establish a voluntary review program of private companies' retirement plans to help strengthen North Carolina businesses.
"My Secure Your Future program will work with all businesses that choose to participate in conducting a thorough review of their pension fund to rate the soundness and stability of that fund. It is imperative we prevent scenarios like the Enron fiasco from happening here in North Carolina", stated Representative Daughtridge. "Most importantly, our working families must have the trust and confidence that their employer based retirement funds are sound. My program is designed to do just that".
The Secure Your Future program will be a joint private-public partnership between North Carolina businesses and the Office of the State Treasurer. The program will establish a confidence rating of private pension funds for those businesses that choose to participate. The final review will be rated by a board composed of business managers, private fund investment advisors and staff from the Treasurer's office.

My goal is to establish a program that highlights the quality and strengths of North Carolina's business community as we meet the challenges of a global economy" Representative Daughtridge stated in announcing this program.
