Why Bill Can Win
Bill Daughtridge is positioned to become North Carolina’s first Republican Treasurer since 1876. The changing North Carolina political landscape, his strength as a pro-business candidate and his previous campaign success make Daughtridge the candidate best positioned to win the 2008 General Election.
Bill’s business and political qualifications ...
Three times, Bill Daughtridge has run for election in a Democratic district and won. Daughtridge’s seat is currently the most Democratic seat in the North Carolina House held by a Republican. Bill has a proven ability to connect with Republican, Independent, and Democratic voters. His twenty-eight year track record of running a successful North Carolina business prepares him for the campaign and the Treasurer’s Office. Voters understand and connect with an independent businessman who currently provides over 150 North Carolina jobs. Bill is a visionary and insightful entrepreneur who can build coalitions and work across party lines to govern modern-day North Carolina.
Demographic changes favor a Republican Treasurer ...
For the first time in over one hundred years, Republicans in North Carolina are at parity with Democrats. The state has leaned solidly Republican in recent federal elections and made solid gains in statewide elections. Just seven years ago there were no Republican members serving on the Council of State. In 2000, the Republican Party elected Cheri Berry, its first down-ballot member in over 100 years. In 2004, the historic election of Steve Troxler and Les Merritt further increased the GOP presence on the Council of State.
Republicans have lacked a competitive candidate ...
In 2000, Richard Moore spent twenty-four times the amount of money that his Republican opponent did on the campaign. In 2004, Moore spent $1.4 million to his opponent’s $42,000. Still, Moore won his most recent election with only 54% of the vote. Previous Republican candidates for Treasurer have done nothing to influence their level of political identity. A qualified Republican who mounts a financially competitive campaign has a clear path to victory in 2008.
Bill Daughtridge brings the business and political experience necessary to capitalize on this historic opportunity. With the help of supporters like you, we can elect a proven entrepreneur and successful public servant to this critical office.
